Some background information about our event:
The Berlinale Co-Production Market is a two-and-a-half-day service and networking platform designed for producers, financiers, sales agents, distributors, broadcasters and funding representatives who are working on international co-productions.
At the Berlinale Co-Production Market, you have the opportunity to present your project if it is selected - to interested co-production partners and financiers in pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings.
Participants who attend without their own project, can request meetings with the selected projects, visit the framework programme which offers opportunities to catch up on film financing news in case studies and workshops, get first-hand information on co-production opportunities in specific regions at the Country Tables, or learn from experts and exchange experiences in Theme Talks. Informal Speed Matchings, cocktail receptions and the Producers Lounge provide additional opportunities for networking.
In 2011, a total of 38 projects from 25 countries were presented at the Berlinale Co-Production Market. 500 industry professionals from all over the world attended the event and met in more than 1000 pre-arranged individual meetings.
Since its first edition in 2004, more than 40% of the projects selected for the Berlinale Co-Production Market have found partners and have gone into production more than 120 films until now. Many have already screened successfully in cinemas and at international festivals. This year, for example, INTIMATE GRAMMAR by Nir Bergman, THE BAD INTENTIONS by Rosario Garca-Montero,INVISIBLE by Michal Aviad, and MAN AT SEA by Constantine Giannaris screened at the Berlinale. Just recently, LAND OF OBLIVION by Michale Boganim premiered in Venice. ELENA by Andrey Zvyagintsev,HUNTER by Bakur Bakuradze and ON THE PLANK by Lela Kilani were presented at Cannes. Previous successes include films like the 2008 Academy Award nominee MONGOL by Sergei Bodrov and LEMON TREE by Eran Riklis, which won the Panorama Audience Award and was screened theatrically in more than 20 countries.
